Born on June 16, 1993, in Seoul, Park Bo-gum initially pursued music and learned to play the piano from a young age. He later became interested in acting and studied Film and Musical Studies at Myongji University.

He made his acting debut in the 2011 film Blind and gradually built a reputation through supporting roles in films and television dramas. His breakthrough came with the 2015 television series Reply 1988, in which he played Choi Taek, a quiet but exceptionally talented Go player.

Career

Park Bo-gum gained widespread recognition through Reply 1988, which became one of the most successful Korean cable television dramas of its time. His performance as Choi Taek established him as one of Korea’s leading young actors.

In 2016, he starred as Crown Prince Lee Yeong in the historical romance drama Love in the Moonlight. The series became a major hit in South Korea and overseas and further increased his popularity throughout Asia.

He later appeared in the television dramas Encounter (2018) and Record of Youth (2020). In Encounter, he starred opposite Song Hye-kyo, while Record of Youth followed the lives and careers of young people working in the entertainment and fashion industries.

After completing his mandatory military service, Park returned to television and film projects. His recent work includes the films Wonderland (2024) and Seobok, as well as the television series Good Boy (2025).

In 2025, Park starred in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, playing Yang Gwan-sik opposite IU. The series became one of his most internationally visible projects.
