Stray Kids will not be submitting music for the 69th Grammy Awards, meaning the K-pop group will not be eligible for nominations at the upcoming ceremony.
Reports from South Korean media said the group did not submit an entry before the August 21 deadline. JYP Entertainment later confirmed that Stray Kids had not submitted music for this Grammy cycle, but did not give a specific reason.
The decision means Stray Kids will not appear on the Grammy voting ballot for the 2027 awards. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 7, 2027.
The news comes as the Grammys prepare to introduce a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. BTS has also been reported to have decided not to submit music for the new category, prompting discussion among K-pop fans about how Korean artists are represented at the awards.
For Stray Kids, however, the group and its agency have not publicly said that the new category was the reason for the decision. Any connection between the two remains speculation.
Stray Kids are one of the leading K-pop groups internationally, with a large global fanbase and major concert activity outside South Korea. Their decision not to enter this year’s Grammy race is therefore likely to attract continued attention from international K-pop fans.
