Netflix is expanding its investment in Korean entertainment with a new K-pop audition series titled We Go High, a project designed to discover and develop a new girl group.
Announced on October 25, 2026, the series will bring together talented students from South Korean arts high schools, where contestants will compete while showcasing their musical and performance abilities.
Unlike many conventional K-pop audition programs, We Go High will focus on students who are already studying arts-related subjects. Applications opened on October 21 for first- and second-year students at high schools with arts or broadcasting-related programs, as well as students scheduled to enter eligible schools in 2027.
The project will be directed and produced by Park Jin-kyung and Lee Jae-seok of Monsterahaus, who have experience producing Korean entertainment and reality programs.
Netflix and SM C&C Partner for the New Group
Netflix has also signed a memorandum of understanding with SM C&C to support the group formed through the competition.
Under the partnership, the two companies plan to cooperate on the group’s development and activities after its debut. SM C&C is expected to contribute its experience in artist development, management and entertainment production.
The partnership extends beyond the television program itself, connecting Netflix’s international streaming platform with SM C&C’s artist-management and production capabilities.
A New Opportunity for K-Pop’s Next Generation
The announcement comes as Korean pop music continues to attract audiences around the world. Global streaming platforms have increasingly become important channels for introducing new Korean artists to international viewers.
For Netflix, We Go High offers an opportunity to combine the popularity of K-pop with the global reach of its original entertainment programming.
However, Netflix has not yet announced the series’ release date, final contestant lineup or the name of the group that will emerge from the competition.
