Stray Kids leader Bang Chan celebrated his 29th birthday by giving back.
On October 3, the singer donated a total of 300 million won, or about $220,000, to three organizations supporting people with hearing loss, children and teenagers, and the environment. The donations were announced by JYP Entertainment.
Three Donations for His Birthday
Bang Chan donated 100 million won each to three organizations:
- HearCycle — supporting medical expenses and social rehabilitation for young people with hearing loss
- World Vision — supporting scholarships and growth programs for children and teenagers from low-income or vulnerable families
- OSEAN — supporting coastal and river cleanups and the removal of marine waste
The three donations totaled 300 million won.
His Donations This Year Have Reached 500 Million Won
This was not Bang Chan’s first major donation of the year.
In September, he donated another 200 million won to Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital and the Korean Committee for UNICEF.
That brings his total charitable giving in 2026 to 500 million won.
His September donations supported the establishment of a specialized rehabilitation center and relief efforts following major flooding in Nepal.
A Birthday Tradition
Bang Chan has continued to use his birthday as an opportunity to support people in need.
In 2025, he donated a combined 200 million won to Samsung Medical Center and UNICEF Korea.
In 2024, he donated 100 million won to the Community Chest of Korea and became a member of its Honor Society, a group that recognizes major donors.
Supporting Different Causes
What makes Bang Chan’s latest donation notable is the range of causes it supports.
The money will help young people with hearing loss receive medical and social support, give vulnerable children better educational opportunities, and support efforts to protect Korea’s coastal and river environments.
Bang Chan said he hoped his support would reach places that need help and help people dream of a better tomorrow.
More Than a K-pop Star
Bang Chan is the leader and producer of Stray Kids, one of the most successful K-pop groups in the world.
His continued charitable activities have also become an important part of his public image.
By using important moments such as his birthday to support different causes, Bang Chan has shown that his influence extends beyond music.
