More Than 80% of Netflix Members Worldwide Have Watched Korean Content

More than 80% of Netflix members worldwide have watched Korean content, highlighting the growing global influence of South Korean entertainment over the past decade.

Netflix revealed the figure on October 24, 2026, as it celebrated the 10th anniversary of its launch in South Korea. The company also reported that more than 200 Korean titles have appeared on its Global Top 10 rankings since the platform began tracking the charts in 2021.

The figures underline how Korean dramas, films, and unscripted shows have become an important part of Netflix’s international content lineup.

Squid Game Leads Korea’s Global Success

One of the clearest examples of this international popularity is Squid Game.

According to Netflix, the first season of the hit series remained on the platform’s Global Top 10 for 32 consecutive weeks, including nine weeks at No. 1. It holds the record for the longest consecutive Global Top 10 run by a Korean title.

The series helped introduce Korean storytelling to audiences who may not previously have watched Korean-language entertainment.

Other Korean productions have also attracted international attention, including The Glory, Kingdom, Sweet Home, and When Life Gives You Tangerines.

More Than 200 Korean Productions Reached Netflix’s Global Top 10

Netflix said that over 200 Korean titles have entered its Global Top 10 rankings since the company introduced the chart in June 2021.

Between 2016 and 2025, Netflix worked with more than 80 production companies in South Korea to produce or co-produce over 200 Korean titles.

The productions involved more than 25,000 cast and crew members, as well as approximately 70,000 extras and daily workers. Filming took place in more than 100 cities and towns across the country.

The company also highlighted its investment in emerging talent. More than one-third of its Korean original titles released over the past three years involved first-time directors or writers.

Korean Content’s Influence Goes Beyond Streaming

Netflix also pointed to the wider cultural impact of Korean entertainment.

The company has worked with 122 localization partners worldwide, including dubbing studios and subtitle specialists, to make Korean productions accessible to viewers in different languages.

Its anniversary report also highlighted how popular Korean shows have influenced international interest in Korean culture, including travel, food, and language learning.

To mark the milestone, Netflix held a two-day fan festival in Seoul on October 24 and 25, bringing together actors, creators, and fans. The event featured stars from popular productions including Squid Game.

After ten years in South Korea, Netflix says Korean stories have become a major part of its global entertainment offering. The latest figures show how far those stories have traveled beyond their home market.
