South Korea is preparing to issue 840,000 commemorative postage stamps honoring Lee Sang-hyeok, better known as Faker, one of the world’s most famous esports players.
Korea Post announced that the stamps will go on sale on October 23, 2026. The release celebrates Faker’s achievements and his contribution to the global popularity of Korean esports.

What Will the Commemorative Stamps Look Like?
The stamps feature key moments from Faker’s career, including celebrations following major championship victories.
Korea Post plans to release 140,000 full sheets, along with stamp albums and other commemorative products. The stamps will be available at designated post offices and through Korea Post’s online store.
To celebrate the release, Korea Post opened a special Faker exhibition at the Stamp Museum inside Seoul Central Post Office on October 10.
The exhibition features the commemorative stamps, Faker’s memorabilia, videos highlighting his career and a gaming experience area.

Why Is Faker So Famous?
Faker made his professional debut in 2013 and became a global star through League of Legends, a popular multiplayer online game.
He has won six League of Legends World Championship titles, ten League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) titles and two Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) championships, according to Korea Post.
He also won gold medals at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
In 2024, Faker became the first player inducted into the League of Legends Hall of Legends. In January 2026, he received South Korea’s Cheongnyong Medal, the highest grade of the country’s Order of Sport Merit, becoming the first esports player to receive the honor.

A Sign of Esports’ Growing Recognition
Commemorative stamps have traditionally celebrated major historical events, cultural figures and national achievements. Honoring Faker reflects the growing recognition of esports in South Korea.
Faker’s career has also helped introduce Korean gaming culture to international audiences. His achievements have made him a prominent figure not only among League of Legends fans but also in South Korea’s wider sports and entertainment landscape.
The commemorative release offers fans another way to celebrate his career while bringing esports history into a traditional form of collecting.
